LXDE beta2a running Live, Right click and Conky problems.
« on: April 08, 2010, 02:22:07 PM »
This is all while running LXDE Beta2a as "Live"
Has anyone figured out how to add to the right click menu in LXDE ? (using 2010 beta2a) have searched using this page
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?action=search2;params=&search=right%2Bclick%2BLXDE
but nothing jumps out,  Also have had a ugly head and chest cold and I'm still a little fuzzy with my thinking ( took me 48min. to loose my last game of Shisen-sho :P).

On a side note , LDXE has suddenly died and turned off my box with it twice now, Doesn't do it with any other Live cds (MiniMe 09.1, XFCE 2010 beta, or my Installed MiniMe 2009) Could this just be a "Beta" kinda thing possibly ? possibly dependent on being "live" on my setup ?

And lastly, Conky keeps disappearing from the desktop , but keeps running (didn't notice it at first, you can see it here http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,70214.msg577659.html#msg577659 )
my conky config as well

Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.

The configuration files for PCManFM are in ~/.config/pcmanfm. If you can figure out how to get it to accept and retain additions for right click, post how, please.

Sorry. No help with conky. I don't use it.

Could you provide more info, please? -- describe hardware -- what you were doing / had done when this happened -- how long you had it up before this happened --
If you have a low amount of RAM, you may have reached a point of activity where there wasn't enough available to continue running.

try that (if I good understand You than Your conky is just goind under wallpaper):

open with some text editor /home/USER_NAME/.conkyrc
find there:
Quote
double_buffer yes
draw_shades yes
own_window_type override
own_window_transparent yes

that settings should be like that...

logout -> login and check now... ?

PS. here You can find my (old but working in version 2010) config from conky http://forum.pclinuxos.org.pl/viewtopic.php?t=2761 (Polish forum but conky config You will see and no need to know Polish language haha)

good luck !

Amd Geode NX 1750, 566mb ram, sis chips, everything "onboard" (audio, video, nic) think "low end" ;D.
First time it was on when I left and wasd off when I came back, second time was while getting a post ready, no biggie, I seldom have anything of importance to say anyways ;D. I would almost go with the memory thing as I had installed a couple things (GQview, and something else ) don't have a lot of mem so that could have done it I suppose. The next time I use it I'll try to pay more attention ;)
and thanks for the help.

566mb ram

You don't have enough memory to run live for long, especially if you add an app or two.

You're probably right, Sadly I remember a few years ago running "Live" Distros (I won't name them all) for days at a time with no problems (some when I only had 128mb of ram). Probably stick to my MiniMe  install for now, all my hardware works and everything does, looks or acts the way I want it to. Maybe if I ever get a newer box (5yrs old here) I'll try something new in the 2010 line.

The compression for liveCDs is higher now. Aside from the larger core system, it takes a bit more power to open and run a highly compressed system. Adding even another 128MB stick would help, if you could.
