if your still running pclos 09.2  then install xmarks from mozilla addons ..this way you'll always be able to move your bookmarks and keep em safe ..then on any new install you just need to install and sync with xmarks..

Ditto!!  xmarks is an excellent addon - I find it indispensable.

2 other useful addons I use are:

FEBE which allows you to backup all your Addons into a specified folder; Plus if you use the associated CLEO addon, Cleo allows you to "Pack" all the addons (which you've backed up with FEBE) into ONE File - called a Cleopack

After a fresh install of FireFox you can then simply re-install the backed up addons in one hit. (You re-install the Cleopack by doing a File > Open File > and going to where your Cleopack is located and selecting it, and voila - all your addons are back in place!!

Note: I make a backup of my Cleopacks and add them to my DropBox online storage -  - which enables me to install those addons on any PC I have in one quick go...
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

newib462,

Another more manual method is to go under Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks/ then under Import and Backup select Export HTML.  That HTML text file is importable into your new install, and you can put that file where you want, or on an external storage medium and use it on other computers.

If it jams, force it.... if it breaks, ... it needed to be replaced anyway!!

i always used the import/export tool and worked very well since...  can't remember!

it is simple and comes preinstalled so i avoid another addon to keep in mind when i try to find why firefox doesn't work properly, some addons are a pita
