Ok wired issue.

In most applications when I select save/save as or open/open as I see the places menu so I dont have to manual browse to things like home root or other drives I have added there

But in open office I dont have this menu nor am I seeing the option icon in the upper right to enable it? Is there a way to have the places list here?

I very much doubt it. The navigation panel with Places is a KDE thing. OOo isn't a KDE program.

Hi newbi462

As blackbird says, oOO isn't a KDE programme, and I don't know whether this will help but in oOO if you go to Tools > Options ? OpenOffice.org > Paths - you can then set where you open and save your documents
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

I can still manually browse around or just save every thing in my home.

It is just I am spoiled by having all the places short cuts and it would be nice to have them there to if I am saving to an unusual place. But sound like you just cannot get there from here mabey some day you will be able to.
