The search tab allows you to edit, remove, or add search engines to KTorrent. After you add your favorite torrent search engine, you can use the search panel (located to the left of the normal KTorrent interface) to search for torrents using your selected search engine.

Those options are not available under the tab it self. You have to go into "Configure Ktorrent" to do all that. Im not a total complete stranger to how to do all this stuff. Its just that the actual "adding in" of other torrent search engines is a bit different than with the old KDE3.5 ver of Ktorrent.

So, its the NEW procedures Im looking for.

heya phyerboss,

I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for but i just added Torrentz Search from the way we know how - Settings --> Configure --> Search --> Add. Could it be the way you type in the URLs? I really couldn't think of anything else that might go wrong in your part so unless you have a torrent-in-progress, perhaps you could first try removing the contents of the folder ~/.kde4/share/apps/ktorrent/ and relaunch KTorrent.

Archie, thats what Im trying to figure out...

HOW TO ADD SEARCH ENGINES!

The old method with the previous Ktorrent was just to go to the site you wanted to add. Type in FOOBAR in the search and copy the resulting url. Which when you went into the adding new search engine options. You pasted in that url. Which would contain "FOOBAR" in it.

Im trying to follow what this thing keeps telling me to do. But, Im not getting anywhere

UPDATE:
Ok, something odd just happened right after I did this post. It seems that "kickasstorrent.om" added in fine! but everywhere else I've tried keeps bringing up that "does not support open search" error. That point is where Im having the issues.

For the ones that this error pops up on. It asks for another url for the site you're wanting. But, with "{search terms}" in the url?  ??? Is it asking you to actually SEARCH for something or to just type that phrase in? See, either way Im doing it its not accepting it.

Thus, why Im sitting here pulling my tiny bit of hair out >:(

Ok, I just solved the issue.

It seems I WAS doing it right. Except 1 small detail which Im a bit embarrassed of. it seems I kept thinking that "{searchTerms}" had to have a capitol "S" at the front. When all that the app was looking for was the EXACT spelling the error msg was suggesting.

Yet, for some odd reason, I kept typing the "S" capped instead of lowercase :-[

Sorry guys, I'll just go ahead and set this to "Solved".

I'm glad you got that sorted out. Great thing about all these is we learn something new at this exact situation.
