Is it possible to download streaming TV?

Dear Group, in an effort to aid my learning of Spanish i had the idea of maybe viewing some streaming Spanish TV programs, perhaps news programs and then saving them and burning them to a CD or DVD.
Trouble is i don't know how to, or indeed, if it's possible at all.  I don't actually have a DVD burner on my computer so i would have to transfer it to my children's computers as they have a DVD burner.

Any help would be gratefully received

Yes it should be ....  but maybe start with posting a link to one of the streaming sites you intend to use.

I would probably first try streaming with VLC and using the Record button on that to see if it did as needed.

i did actually think about VLC but i had trouble installing it, a quick search shows that there is a known problem with it.

Well for the second link I would use Firefox DownloadHelper plugin .......  it is flash and that will save an FLV file which can be played with a player such as VLC.

SMPlayer can be used to play the stream directly.

The first link you gave is a general listing of links so I suppose they will have a variety of different methods of delivering the streams.

         I was not aware that VLC stops playing after some seconds until I tried it on the stream above.
EDIT     It did seem to start up again here though .....  maybe it was my d/load.

What difficulty were you referring to regarding to VLC?

Well, when i tried to install VLC through Synaptic i came up against a list of dependency errors, after using the search function i found that it is a reported issue.

Oh, OK, not an issue with VLC so, but an issue with updating from the 2007 base.

I tried VLC here and it records the stream and saves it as am AVI file.

Anyway Firefox with the plugin should do what you need for the present.

Have you tried Miro? I just did a search in it, and one Feed is for Rolling R's: Spanish Lessons. Could be useful. I use Miro to grab all manner of audio and video feeds for download.
