slow bt (solved)
« on: March 26, 2010, 09:20:42 PM »
My internet speed has gone very slow (again)
Using bt speedtester

Download speedachieved during the test was - 81 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :160 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps

In order to commence the third test, you are required to temporarily re-configure your Connection settings.

now it says to do this, maybe cause it knows its at fault

# Go to the start menu, click Settings, Control Panel and the Network Connections folder.
# Select the Connection that you use to connect to your ISP.
# Change the Username to: speedtest@speedtest_domain and blank the Password.
# Set this connection as your default and click Ok.
# Double click the connection and wait for the message "Connected".
# Once this has successfully Connected, click the button below:

this has not happened before

and how do i do that in pclinuxos?

thanx

this is what it says in the red print

WARNING:
Before changing your PC/Modem settings, please note down your current Username and Password details.
You will not be able to connect to the internet without reverting back to the old Username and Password settings.

If you are unable to follow the instructions given here (to the right) or if you are not confident to change these settings then please go to FAQ Section or seek assistance from your ISP.

speedtest shows this

Hi chilly

Just a thought - have you turned off your modem and/or router for 30 seconds (along with your PC) and rebooted them all?

Sometimes modems simply need a reset and things work again....

PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver
