Convert CD Audio To Mp3, Ogg, Flac...ect!
« on: May 20, 2013, 08:00:11 PM »
These applications let you convert cd audio to many formats, they just need a little configuration for that, and if you have a working internet connection they should automatically add information on the track like artist, album name, year...ect!

You can configure just one application of your like or with the help of this guide configure them all just in case!

You may need to install the "Lame" plug-in(for mp3 encoding) and restart or reboot after you configure the applications!

Asunder: Open Asunder, go to "Preferences", in the "General" Tab choose your destination folder like the "Music" Folder, then go to the "Encode" Tab, choose or check the music format that you like and uncheck the formats you don't, click "OK" and then insert a cd and click the "Rip" button!

Banshee Media Player: Open Banshee, go to "Edit", then go to "Preferences", go to the "Source Specific" Tab and in "Source" choose "Audio CD's" in the "Import Format" choose the music format you like, if you like mp3 then go to the "Edit" button and choose the "Encoding Mode" and "Bitrate" of your like, then close the two dialog boxes and now just insert the cd you want to rip and click the "Import CD" button!

Exaile Music Player: Open Exaile, go to "Edit", "Preferences", in "CD" choose the "Import Format", "Import Quality" and "Import Path", import path should look like this: "/home/user/Music/$artist/$album/$tracknumber - $title", did you noticed that I marked in red the word "Music" that's because Music (With Capital M) is my import folder for music, you have to input or write the import path, close the preferences box, go to "Audio Disc" Tab and click on the "Import CD" button!

Will be adding a few more soon!

I will delete this post when you have updated the first one  ;)

Dolphin (Konqueror?)

Open the CD in Dolphin .....  split view and choose destination in second pane .......  drag & drop from the CD pane to your destination ......  flac, mp3 & ogg   available ......  it encodes on the fly

K3b
Tools - Rip Audio CD ........  make selections and choose format etc .......  (avoid LameMP3 entry as it does not work, but there is a working entry for MP3 near the top of the list)

In command-line pacpl very effective too
For exemple to convert .wma to .ogg, open a terminal where are your wma and $ pacpl -v -t ogg *.wma
-v = verbose just to see the progression
-t = to the destination format

pacpl -f shows all the supported format

Although the info about PACPL states it has an audio cd ripper function, I have never found that option in the package in the repo.

.....  but now I see it has the function from the command line .....

pacpl -l

to see all the functions!
