(SOLVED) XFCE4 My panel's disappeared
« on: March 22, 2010, 06:55:11 AM »
How do I get out of this one folks? I'm trying out xfce4 which I think is very, very nice. However my panel - as a result of nothing I can identify - has totally disappeared, but only in my own personal account. If I log on as root, it's there. I've checked the xfce4 site where I found the command to start the panel from a terminal - 'xfce4-panel'. That works ok. But only as long as I keep the terminal up on the screen. Dismiss that and the panel goes with it! The messages in the terminal are -

By the way, I have the xfce4 plugins installed from Synaptic. Obviously it's not a world-shattering inconvenience to keep the terminal on screen, especially if I reduce it to postage stamp size. But I'd prefer to sort the problem out. Anybody got any ideas on this one?

Genius Sproggy! Thank you. What a quick resolution to that one. And as I've said a thousand times before (well...almost) what a wonderful resource this forum is. Thank you again.
