those darn extra picasa menu entries (LXDE)
« on: March 24, 2010, 06:19:25 AM »
hi all,

so yeah, i installed picasa, and it's cool and everything - but it not only has its own submenu, but separate menu entries below that ('Picasa' and 'Picasa font settings').

maybe i didn't make my coffee strong enough this morning, but i can't remember how to edit the extra stuff out.

long live pclos!

Abstract --

Place your cursor over the "PC" button, right click, select "Edit Menu" and you should be GTG!

Have a great morning!  :)

thank you for your quick response, but when i right-click on the 'pc' menu button, i see no such option. there is only:
menu settings [which is only for changing the menu icon],
add/remove panel items,
remove menu from panel,
panel settings,
and create new panel.

i did just rename 'picasa.menu' to 'ppicasa.menu' in /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged (so hopefully its parent-menu-thingy won't find it)

i'm gonna log out/in and see if that screwed it up

nope, that did nothing (except show my 'not-an-actual-geek' card).

well, it's certainly not a big deal - so i've got some superfluous menu wackiness.

Back in kde3.5, there was an entry for Menu Editor when you right clicked. Not sure what it changed to. Have you tried right clicking on the menu item itself, the ones you want to remove? When your right-click on the pc button, did you explore any of those sub-entries? I haven't installed 2010 yet. Sorry I can't be more specific. 8)

Menu items are found in /usr/share/applications as .desktop file entries. Edit or remove them as desired.

LXDE has no menu editor. Menu editing must be done manually. Or you might try using gnome's menu editor, alacarte. It might work.
