No maximise/minimise/close icons on windows
« on: March 24, 2010, 01:18:09 AM »
None of my windows have the maximise/minimise/close icons that I'd expect at the top right.

Just a thought but .... assuming the window has overscanned the monitor screen, hold down the left Alt key, left click your mouse in the window and drag the window to reveal the icons.  In 2010 Beta2 the screen resizes on the left Alt / mouse click

Edit: Changed kde4 to 2010 Beta2

For obvious reasons I'm not in PCLinuxOS right now.

None of my windows had the right-hand icons - and I couldn't resize the windows by dragging the edges either.

Just tried it in kde3 on a maximised window and the left Alt / mouse click trick didn't work - it does with 2010B2 though as described in my earlier post.  Sorry for the misinformation - I don't know what else to suggest

If you right click on the icon in the task bar section of the kicker, you can Maximize or Minimize in KDE4 in 2010 beta 2.  If you move to an upper, lower or side edge of the window until the little arrows show, you can right click and then choose move and then you can move the whole window like you could with Alt plus the left mouse button like you could do with the 3.5 KDE with the intermediate window size.

I have since rebooted, and things are back to normal.

Just to make it clear, resizing was impossible because the "little arrows" didn't appear at all, and the window edges (of all apps) were absent anyway. Oh, and the bottom panel was absent too; so that the desktop was showing where it would have been.

I'll let you know if it reoccurs.

Kwin crash. Had it in the past. Next time it happens click KMenu > Run Command and then type in kwin and press ENTER on Your keyboard. You can reboot (DO NOT do the COLD reboot by pressing the RESET button). That will bring them back too. It will just take slightly longer ;).

Nothing to worry about. Its just a glitch of Matrix. KDE bug. Nothing to do with PCLinuxOS itself :).

P.S. Just in case You already pressed it...
