Okay, lets try something here.  If you have an internet connection, open Synaptic, and hit reload, then apply.  This will bring you up to speed with all the latest packages.  Next go to 'custom button' (bottom left side of Synaptic) and look for task 'printing'.  Once you have everything installed (which I may have taken out to save some space on the iso), then hit the Blue wheel with tools on it in the 'taskbar or kicker' of your desktop.  Go back in and try to reconfigure your printer and see if you can get it right.  If you have the wrong model number, or if  CUPS isn't right, then there's no spooling to the printer from the pc.

Hope this helps.

Anyone else with suggestions?

Yes, HPs are the most linux friendly of all printers.  I've never had a problem with mine.   ;D

Epson SX105 driver exists in PCC (Configure Your Computer).. I am still usiong KDE3.5 but I don't think PCC has changed that much in MDE4

From the menu select System then Configuration the Configure Your Computer. Enter your root password. Click on Hardware and select Setup printers.

If your printer is connected, switch it on. Click on the icon for Add a new printer to the system. This opens a new window called "Add a new printer". Make sure Auto-detect printers connected to this machine and click next. If this doesn't find your printer then uncheck all auto-detect options, click next 2 times the click on No for HPLIP. The printer database will be displayed. Search for Epson and expand the list of Epson printer. SX105 is near the bottom called Stylus SX105. You should be able to install your printer from there.

thanks for replies

i ve newly installed pclinuxos E17, i like it.

the driver is not the problem, i made a mistake.

but the stand of the printer change from "installed in this computer"
to "installed on other computer" few minutes after connect the printer and configure it and i don't know why.
and i can't print.

i'll try manual settings and tell you if it works or not

I configured it manually and it works perfectly.

it seems that the PCC set up it automatically in usb/lp1

instead of usb/lp0.

thanks
