I seem to be having DNS issues. Sometimes a regular site won't load quickly or fully. However, if I google the site and click the google link, it serves the page instantly and completely. In PCC>network, I clicked Configure DNS. It told me localhost was not a Fully Qualified Domain Name.
I searched the forum for Fully Qualified Domain Name and got three results. This one
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,68235.0.htmlwas the most helpful. I tried editing the /etc/... file mentioned as root in konsole. I'm pretty gui-centric due to laziness and noobiness, so working in konsole eventually got me to "bash no such command or file name" when I tried to open the conf file itself for editing. When I tried to get at this file in konqueror, it wouldn't let me open the locked root file and said, "Medium not found, could not mount."
Do I need to log on as root to edit this file? Am I even on the right track using the above post? Is there a gui way to edit this file, perhaps in network configuration?
I am tremendously appreciative of the fact that those who help me are volunteering their valuable time and valuable expertise. I have rarely encountered a forum so willing to help.
