Strange boot today. X didn't start, so at runlevel 3 (I think) I logged in as a user and typed startx. Normal session. That is, normal for lately -- the first few web pages I load lately freeze up for a few seconds, then page or arrow down in several jumps from me pushing those keys a couple of times. For a half a second, the page looks like a venetian blind -- horizontal blades of text and images about 2mm tall. This only for the first few minutes online, after that scrolling and page updates are smooth and quick.
After several hours online, I signed off. It would only let me End This Session (rather than Shut Down Computer or Reboot, those weren't even grayed-out options.) I'm guessing this is normal since I started X from the command line when I logged on.
Here's the weird part: the terminal text (on full desktop wallpaper, not black terminal screen), was full of entries saying, "StartGrabKey disabled. StartGrabkey enabled (symbolic gibberish)." This went on for several lines and then I was back to the non-GUI logon prompt.
UPDATE: After several trying several searches on google (where even this post turned up), I came across this:

Sounds innocent enough, unless "this window" is on some other person's computer. Oh well. Unless I'm warned otherwise, I'll think of this as innocent enough and go blithely about my business.
Uhhhh...Should I be worried someone's grabbing my keys? Or is this some legitimate logging feature? Forum Search, StartGrabKey, no entries. Start GrabKey, no entries. Google searches eventually got me something called Air Grabkey. Turns out that's a gamerz thing, but the name made me think of aircrack-ng and airsnort, along with metasploiot and such. I'm on wifi at work. The owner wants to make us a hotspot, so the signal icon shows Open (unlocked). I thought about looking in Synaptic, but I don't want to enter my root password until I find out what's going on.
So those of you who aren't ignoring me (and I'm sorry I caused you to), what's going on?
