NEW - A kernel specifically configured for laptops
« on: March 11, 2010, 04:06:35 AM »
Hi, I have noticed in PCLinuxOS 2010 there is the option to use several different configured versions of kernel 2.6.32.8.
I was wondering if one could be configured specifically for Laptops, and other portable variants, would this be a viable suggestion?
It might be an extra plus for PCLInuxos 2010, though its already the best imho.  :)
(kernel 2.6.33 or above preferably)  ;D

I would like that also, but i fear that it will only incorporate the famous Intel Atom family cpu and chipsets.

Problem is that I myself have a HP Mini 2133 netbook, and this one has a Via C7/M chip and some exotic graphic chipset.

I personnaly think, that if it is possible, some elements are extremely necessairy to include, like frequency scaling for example and temperature monitoring.

Hi menotu, took a look at that link, not quite sure what you mean. Should I have put "new" at the start of subject? :o

Hi OnlyHuman

Its my understanding that new packages etc should be requested in the Package Suggest Board:

I also remember when I read it (long time ago mind you  ;D) something about not requesting kernels, but that may of changed.
