[Solved] Konsole: Root vs. User Issue
« on: March 16, 2010, 01:10:03 PM »
I added the konsole terminal widget in the taskbar panel. When I left click it, there is Root Shell and Shell (regular user) option. I don't use Root shell nearly as often as the regular shell. And, seriously, how hard is it to type su and your password. I don't remember there being an option in KDE 3.5, but in KDE 4.x it's there. So what I'm wondering, is there a way to get rid of the Super User, Regular User shell option, so that the konsole opens up straightaway, just as konsole. (So as to rid myself of an extra step).... Btw, still using PCLinuxOS 2009 with KDE 4.3 ..... :D

Try and look at the original config files for the widget.  If the widget is not binary (just a script file) you might be able to hack it so as to remove the Root profile.

Hi dobbs

Have you considered going to the PC KMenu > More Apllications > Terminals > and right clicking on Konsole (Terminal) and selecting "Add to Panel" and adding the icon that way instead?

Just a thought....

yakuake = goodnes. Just found out about it the other night.
