French dictionary words (SOLVED)

Hi there All, running PCLinux OS 2009.1

Running Kontact as PIM client,

English system with dead keys enabled.

When typing the French characters, they display ok, even on sent emails etc.  Installed the French dictionary and even French locales for KDE, but when I right click on a word that has the accents ( é è á etc) they don't display correctly and come out garbled, any one got anyt ideas how to remedy this?

SOLVED!

I only just noticed (after months of trying to figure it out ) (blush) that the encoding for the spell checker was not UTF-8 hence it could not show the characters correctly..
