PCC doesn't open
« on: March 04, 2010, 10:06:05 AM »
I've done a fresh install of PCLinuxOS in order to play around with KDE4 before using it on my productive system. I've already upgraded to KDE4 (minimal, the others had some broken packages and wouldn't work).

Now, I've got a funny problem. I can't open the PCC. A similar question was asked in a different thread and it was suggested that one should open the bash, type in pcc, and post the output. Which is what I'm doing now. I hope someone can help.

Hi,
the same problem here, as I start 'Configure Your Computer - Administration Center' from tray, the 'Control Center' logo appears in the middle of the screen, than disappears in a few seconds and nothing happens.
When I start it in terminal, I receive this:

I was searching this forum and found several topics about it from the past half year, but there were not any clue for solution.
It's MiniMe 2009 fresh install with few additional packages like Kaffeine, Ktorrent, K3b, LinNeighborhood, so on.
Any hint appreciate.

Seems a problem with libwebkitgtk. And so far, it hasn't been fixed yet. My tip here is to do a clean 2009.2 install and do not upgrade libwebkitgtk. That's what i've done. And worked.

I followed your instruction and confirm it works. It's a pity that I had to reinstall the system. Thanks anyway.

..consider it good practice;  the 2010 release is very near, and as posted here many times, it will require a full reinstall (the first in three years).  ;) ;D

The developers group is putting the first private beta through its paces right now, with a public beta soon to follow.  I think you will find the inconvenience well worth the effort!

PS..  welcome to the forums!

travisn000, yes, it was a good practice, though it was smooth and quick. (Good point for PCLOS!)
Thank you for the kind welcome!

Well, the tip here is: Make /home in a separate partition. If you do that, reinstall is a breeze. I had to do it 4 days ago(the reinstall, that is), in my notebook. 5 to 8 minutes later, the system was up and running the way it was before. And, with all my files and configurations, wallpapers, etc...

Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Linux.

Google Translate has garbled the code. Be sure to hover the mouse over it to get the original.
