Synaptic hick-up or not ?
« on: March 14, 2010, 12:39:32 AM »
Part 1
I put the liveCD beta1 in my try and boot up normally...OK
Then I configure my internet....OK
Then I open Synaptic/Settings/repositories....OK ( for default setting - ibiblio )
Now I want to use the following mirror:http://www.mirror.in.th/osarchive/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/apt/    ( pclinuxos/2007 or 2010 )
I get a load of messages that thew mirror is not accessible because of blablabla every time I hit "reload"

Part 2
I install the Beta normally to my HD
I setup the internet
Open Synaptic
I reload for ibiblio, no problem
I  mark the THAI mirror in the repos, and press reload
I get the same messages .

NOTE: I have deleted the Thai entry and retyped it straight from the mirror...no go
NOTE: The mirror is accessible from pclos2009/kde3 , no problem.
NOTE: the mirror is accessible via firefox ( in Beta version )
NOTE: I have imported the sources.list file from the mirror and overwritten the original - no go

Last note...I have reinstalled the beta, and done all above again........
I can not use the THAI mirror ( which is 50 Km away from my house !!  )

Anyone has an idea?
Much appreciated.
This thing drives me NUTS
Oh, another NOTE: I got same problem setting up the repos for " youcantoo "s mirror.
In KDE3 it works....in KDE4 it doesn't , and Oh Boy , did I try hard :D ;D

i am getting this error msg: "http://www.mirror.in.th/osarchive/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2010/base/pkglist.kde4: Size mismatch"

this could explain why your kde3 install works and your kde4 doesnt. the problem is with the kde4 section pkglist file. Contact whoever manages this mirror and ask them to check this section out for errors.

Thank you for the assistance.
I will see if it is possible to contact " this " person.

At least I am pretty sure it's not on my site
