Dual boot Pclos 2010 with WinXP on 80 Gb HD
« on: March 12, 2010, 07:30:46 PM »
Hi i currently run 2009 on a laptop which is my day to day computing.  I've had a brief look at the live 2010 on my laptop and so far it looks OK, ie boots up OK, and the few things I've tried have worked.

I also have a desktop which used to have 2007 then 2009 dual boot with WinXP, but then had a hard drive failure and have only just got everything going again - upgraded memory to 2Gb and put new drive in.  It is an 80Gb drive ... is this large enough to use for 2010 and Win?  Also if I install the 2010 is it upgradeable to stable when the stable is ready, or would it involve a complete new install?

Many thanks

New installation would be necessary.

Should be enough for both to install and run (I've done that) ...

But you are soon gonna find yourself cramped for space - on both sides - if you do any serious work with it.

It would be only for having a look at it and practising the install prior to putting it onto my laptop when it's stable.  I need to start backing up ready for the new install I guess, as it may not be that long.  Unless I try with keeping /home, but read there may be issues in doing that.  Pretty much only photos that I'll want anyway.

Thanks
