Thanks for the reply Texstar : This one has me stumped as well and I've tried live cds and usbs of a lot of distros -- even chakra-- and never had any trouble with any of them. I used lili windows to make the live usb and am wondering if unebootin might be a better choice. I'm curious whether the boot splash is too much for an 8 bit vga driver if that makes any sense or something of that ilk. I'll keep stabbing and poking at it and get back to you with my results.Thanks for all your work --- Steelman
