Audacity & mp3
« on: March 11, 2010, 01:24:19 PM »
How can I get a version of Audacity that supports writing .mp3s ?

(The one I installed from the repo is the .wav-only version)

Alternatively how do I add .mp3 support? Though I suspect it probably won't be possible with the version I have.

Audacity doesn't come able to convert to mp3 - see:

You need to install lame through synaptic and read the above link to set it up.

Worked not but Works now after a struggle.

You have to install the Lame codec via Synaptic, try to determine where Synaptic has put the file, then point Audacity to it.  A hell of a struggle just to get .mp3 support which should come out of the box as it appears to do in Windows.

(Yes ... Linux isn't Windows etc...)
