another option could be to download and install/test the new beta1 of LXDE
Yes!! true , there are things that do not work properly , but it is a very good option for E17.

u guys mean to install the new beta1 then E-17 from it? or just the beta1 LXDE?is it a substitute for the E-17?
well to be honest i can wait anyhow for the final release... anyhow ill get my new laptop soon so now im just experimenting to get to know E-17 well and have a clean fine install on the new machine:-)
now i have a couple of qs about my install...
1- again when i try to launch pcc, synaptic or NTFS config tool from icons or main menu i get the error message"invalid call to subprocess"... have to launch them from terminal...any idea what that might be?? is that some sort of a bug?? can it be reported?
2- since i had this install i couldnt make any of the animated backgrounds to work... they worked in the previous install...
they r .edj files i copied them in the /.e/e/backgrounds folder as b4.... the images backgrounds work fine though!!
is there anything i have to install??
3- i used to use thunderbird as mail client and have all my accounts and mails on it...im thinking to give sylpheed a try... looks very light and sufficient... is there a way to import the settings( account settings and saved e-mails ) from thunderbird to it or not?
4- i used mozilla coz of 2 things... the "download helper" for downloading and converting the youtube videos and such stuff... and the "pdf it" extension.... but i like very much how light and fast epipheny and midori are.... is there any other way to do those things without using mozilla???
thx guys
