I like it.  It seems that the signal strength levels are showing higher or better then with the b43 module in the repos.

This b43-firmware is in repo now! And it's in PCLinuxOS beta 2 and others remaster as well :) I'm happy that b43 users are happy now :D

One minor issue.  Someone else has already noted that the data led is opposite, I can confirm this.
I have an external Belkin PCMCIA wireless card with the BCM 4306 Broadcom chip and the data lite is on steady when there is no data.

However this is not a problem for me as the internal wifi, BCM4318, on this laptop has no data lite.

;D  I'm not Fweekin Quazzeee!  OK I am, but now about this!   :D

It is driving the card nice.  No complaints, I can get used to the reversed light.  No biggie.

I too have noticed an improvement in the connection speed. Before I would have a percentage of 50 to 55% on the taskbar icon and download of around 50kbs and with the new one I get 100% and download of 150kbs. Checked this by downloading a large file from cnet.download.com. WiFi light works correctly. Don't know what happened but I like it.

about light for wifi I think It's not because b43-firmware but You have to look right module for Your laptops... For example when I was working before with Asus A6km laptop b43-firmware was ok but lights didn't work untill i load modules A6km to that laptop. I'm not 100% but it's my opinion ;)

Transmit/not transmit... Nutting but a thing.  My netbook only has a power light, on/off.  Now when a page loads slow I wonder, is anything happening at all?  I can deal with reversed lights.  If it's off or blinking, something is going on.  :)  And the driver is driving my card nice.  First non-ndiswrapper driver to ever do it.  Learning stuff.

I have one small problem with the beta2 Livecd. To get the wireless configuration to show Wlan0 I have to "modprobe b43" from a su terminal. It installs and works perfectly after. If I don't modprobe the configuration window only offers ndiswrapper option that doesn't work. I've had to do this every time so it's repeatable. It's a small problem easily gotten around. I am using the LiveCd only at this time. Thanks

it's simple:

open in some text editor as a root that file:
Quote
/etc/modprobe.preload

and add on the end:
Quote
b43

and now just reboot, from now on should work without problems...

good luck!

@marian that will not help because network anyway will work for @jakesdad but problem is during starting system. So adding b43 to modprobe.preload should load b43 module so he don't have to write "modprobe b43" anymore ;)

good luck!

Hm... I didn't need to add b43 to modprobe.preload.
Just typed modprobe b43 and than normally set my Wlan0.
Works after reboot too.  ;)

And still working. This driver is just great. Stronger signal level than with the ndiswrapper method. On both 2009 and 2010 works without a hitch.

Good job. Thanks.  ;)
