Works like a charm. Followed install instructions from Siamer and am running Livecd right now. Configured and went right online. Thanks for the fix.

I've forgot to mention that when I installed it on a livecd 2010 b1 or installed one there wasn't needed any blacklisting activity.  ;D
It was needed on my PCLOS 2009 installation (wanted to test it on 2009 too). Soon it will have been a year since I installed it and we must take into account my "professional" activities on it.  ;D ;D ;D

On PCLinuxOS 2010 it works perfectly.  ;)

I noticed that my transmit light is reversed.  On when it should be off and off when it should be on.  But it seems to drive the card good.  :)

Not sure if this (b43) is loaded right because when I rmmod ndiswrapper I lose my connection, and as soon as I modprobe ndiswrapper the connection will come back. I blacklisted and rmmod b43legacy, and b43 took over in its place.

See attached file 'Wireless.txt' for lsmod output

Code: [Select]
[temp@laptop ~]$ lspci | grep Broadcom
00:09.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

This card is in an older laptop Compaq Presario 2100

Also attached is my full lshw output.

it's depends... Can You past here "lspci | grep Broadcom"
If Your card id is "14e4:4307" or "14e4:4320" than should work with this firmware if "14e4:4306" than it's working with b43legacy... we will see

thanks for info ;)

Here is the relevant part of lshw..

Code: [Select]
*-network:0
             description: Wireless interface
product: BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller
             vendor: Broadcom Corporation
             physical id: 9
             bus info: pci@0000:00:09.0
             logical name: wlan0
             version: 02
             serial: 00:0b:cd:74:d1:97
             width: 32 bits
             clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless
             configuration: broadcast=yes driver=ndiswrapper+bcmwl5 driverversion=1.55+Broadcom,10/12/2006, 4.100. ip=192.168.10.197 latency=64 link=yes module=ndiswrapper multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11g

I'm not sure where you got you hex number from but here is the only thing that resembles it.
serial: 00:0b:cd:74:d1:97

Mine is a 4306, like you said it's a b43 legacy...
Oh well, thanks for the good work! I'll have to stick with the 'old way' hehe! :) :D :'( ::)

Uh.  Weird.... I thought this was an AirForceOne thread.  No worries though.  Gotta go back and read this again.

Edit:
My mistake.  This is not an AirForceOne thread, was sent here from an AirForceOne thread.  Back on track.

@Joble it should work with:
-BCM4306 <-- not all as we know now :P
-BCM4311
-BCM4312
-BCM4318

Will not work with:
-BCM4322
-BCM4321

Thanks guys for testing ;)

Tried this on a beta of 2010 LXDE and now Wlan0 shows up under Network Center in PCC.  Wlan0 is a BCM 4318 internal wifi on this laptop.

Before Wlan0 would not show up when both b43 and bcm43xx were installed.

It sees my router, but fails to connect.  And it is currently set as an open connection.

I also have an external PCMCIA wifi card with the 4306 chip in it and so I plugged it in, showed up as Wlan1, both lites came on and it connected to my router.

bcm43xx remove if You have installed can make problems (old driver - b43 is new), try to do that as a root in terminal:
1)"rmmode b43"
2)"rmmode ssb"
3)"modprobe b43"
4) "modprobe ssb"

maybe it's problem because ssb is loading before b43, try that and let me know ;) with 4306 sometime will work (not with every!) but bcm 4318 have to work...

ouu and make sure that ndiswrapper is uninstalled or better blacklisted in /etc/modpobe.d/blacklist

show me as well please "dmesg | grep b43"
