SOLVED, Sorta: No spell check for Kate, Kwrite, or Kmail
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:28:00 PM »
I'm using PCLinuxOS 2009.1. Spell check doesn't work in Kate, Kwrite, or Kmail, although it does work in Opera and Gedit. Tomboy checks, but doesn't remember new words.

I saw a similar problem here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,61603.0.html . I tried the fix that was given there, but it hasn't worked for me. My error message says that I need to make sure Aspell is in the path, and that it's configured correctly. The path is OK, but I don't know anything about configuring it, and I never had this problem in any other distro so I'm out of my depth.

Help would be appreciated. I can do my spell checking in Gedit but I much prefer Kate and Kwrite.

I've solved this issue, sorta: Gedit has a working spell-checker for PCLOS, and Gedit has proved to be just about as handy as Kate. This doesn't affect the problems I've had in Tomboy or Kmail, but I can type stuff in Gedit first if I want to be sure of the spelling.

Gee whizzz! A KDE problem solved by using Gnome! Not good! However, PCLOS 2010 with KDE 4 doesn't have the problem: No Kate!! Is that intentional?
