Turning start-up and logout sounds off [Solved]
« on: March 07, 2010, 08:41:12 AM »
I've done 3 passes of the PCC and still can't find where to set this. I like my computers quiet. Any ideas?

dixonpete, it's in KCC ("System Settings") => Notifications

It's DE-specific  ;)

I'm still not seeing it. I'm trying out the Beta1. Figured I was on safe ground posting here since I figured this element would be common to all KDE 4 implementations.

KCC = the wrench and screwdriver icon/ "Configure Your Desktop"?

Can you be more exact?

Exactly, "Configure your Desktop". There it's in "Look and Feel", then "Notifications".

Still no go. I'm looking at this exact area and I don't see mention of events like start and end with associated sounds.

Edit: Scrolling down is a good thing.. I found it. From the look of it there weren't any more options in that window.

It is a good idea to turn off that logout sound to save some seconds at shutdown and logout.  ;D
It takes about 5 sec. to finish that sound.  ::)
