how to mount drives/partitions in kde 4
« on: March 06, 2010, 04:41:53 PM »
First thing I noticed was no "my computer" icon.  So how do I mount my windows and Linux drives/partitions?  I am not even seeing any windows drives.  I have been able to see the Linux partitions. I am using the new 2010 beta live c-d.  Boy it is like learning Linux all over again.  Don't know if this old man is up to that again.

pirate thanks for the reply.  I had searched before I asked and saw your post.  I don't know why but I do not see what you show.  I was dual booting vista (now win 7 after update) and 2009.1 fully updated.  I messed up the grub boot thing some time ago.  I never tried to fix it waiting for 2010.  I used a different computer for Linux.  But when I used the live c-d of 2009.1 or .2 I could go to "My Computer" and mount all the windows drives/partitions and do what ever I needed to do.  Now when I open Dolphin I see some of what you show but not anything windows.  I see a folder called "media" that has my Linux folders in but nothing about win 7 or vista.  I would not expect to see vista since I updated to win 7.
I was hoping to mount by windows folders like Music etc and play with beta.  When final comes out then do a complete install

pirate, I think I found my win 7 files.  Like I said before I didn't see what you saw.  I did find a folder on the left side called "OS".  When I opened that folder there were the files.  I do not have "OpenOffice" installed so I couldn't open any documents or spreadsheets.  But I did play some music.
I wonder why the view is different, maybe because I am using the live c-d and you must have it installed.  Anyway thanks for your reply.

Hi Grandpa, In Dolphin, F9 toggles the places panel.  It sounds like your default view has the places panel closed.

Roc4fun, I could see the panel.  The names of the folders were different.  There were two that read HD.  They were partitions of linux 2009.1.  There is one that just said "OS".  After checking that one, there was my win 7 files.
Thanks for your reply anyway.
