how do I delete a topic I started?
« on: March 06, 2010, 10:32:33 AM »
I started a topic that produced requests to kick my a$$. I tried deleting it, and received a message saying I couldn't delete the first post in a thread, but I could ask a moderator to delete it. I clicked on the Report To Moderator link and asked, to no avail. If I create a thread (especially one which in its very nature can never be solved), and change my mind, shouldn't I be able to un-create it? More precisely, shouldn't a moderator delete it on request? If it's producing such bad press or even threats, couldn't it be deleted in the interest of Forum peace if nothing else?

I know others favor the Ignore button approach, and I'm sure quite a few people ignore me. I tend to have that affect on a lot of people, as well as causing at least two people that I know of to call for some sort of retaliation against me specifically. Fine, my poor social skills come through even in text. In order to offend fewer people, I'll simply post less, starting with the withdrawal of the offensive thread I started, please.
Fair warning: I am a whiny, selfish brat who should be denied access to 2010, per a moderator. Box: Acer Aspire One 110-xxxx model. XP wiped (and flushed), 2010 gnome (despite mod) grafted onto 8g flash HD via livecd.

I believe my reply right after your OP might have inflamed situation. I read the OP and saw it as 'blowing off steam'. Nearly everyone has done that at least once. I also saw no real viciousness in your words, so I replied with some sarcasm in the hope of cheering you up.

I looked at your profile and I can see that the number of people ignoring you is ZERO. I see no reason why it wouldn't stay that way whether or not you decide to post more or less.

The beta is out. And as some people here might say:

Some people like to rock, some people like to roll. Lets have a par-tay! Whoo-oo-oo...
