Firefox update

Is there any real danger of updating to Firefox 3.6 from 3.5.6 outside the repo's? I wouldn't like to bork my system but I will not be ready for 2010 (when available) and would like to keep Firefox (and Thunderbird) fully updated. I am on KDE4.3.4
