What time is it?
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:18:54 PM »
Knowing the time isn't a problem with Firefox, there are several clock options.  But how do I go about getting a clock put on Konqueror?  Funny, I've never noticed this before; I generally use Firefox.

And, yes, I've googled it.  I type in "install clock on Konqueror," and get everything but.  And, yes, I have a watch, a fake rolex.  But I still want a clock visible on my monitor.

And I suppose no one else is as dumb as me.  No matter; how do people who use Konqueror all the time know what time it is?

As always, any help will be appreciated.

Well, as I have a clock on my panel I don't need one in Konqueror. (Opera comes with lots of clock gadgets, but I don't need them either.)

are you running kde3 or kde4 without taskbar or something similar?

under kde3 there is superkaramba widgets including many many clocks

in kde4 there is plasmoids doing the same

other desktops have similar toys or addons/modules dong this(e17, lxde and others) but i can't find a modification, addon or change doing what you need in konqueror on the web or in kde related sites

konqueror is a good web browser but is no mach at the moment to other web browsers with this extras or modifications/addons, also is in a sort of abandoned state, i hope i'm wrong but it looks like that  :(

another approach you could do is open a website showing the hour like this one

http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/d/-5/java

or this one

http://www.clocklink.com/world_clock.php

and bookmark it to check it whenever you need it

but usually the easier solution is have a clock loaded in your taskbar

"And, yes, I have a watch, a fake rolex."

so you have money!   i only could buy a cheap casio  :-X

Thanks for the responses.  Even the facetious ones were entertaining.  I've discovered what the problem was (as there is, now, a clock on my top panel). With 3D effects on, Konqueror sits (or lays) on the screen sort of like a place mat; neither maximized nor minimized, but rather unmaximized or resized to illustrate a 3D effect.  To get it full screen, I have two options.  First I can right-click the Konqueror window on the bottom panel and then select "maximize," or from the top tool bar under "settings," I can select "full screen mode."  The former, right-clicking from the bottom panel, maximizes Konqueror, but leaves all the panels intact.  That's the mode I'm in now.  The latter, selecting full screen mode from settings, causes Konqueror to take up the entire screen,  covering all panels as well.  It was not, before, clear to me that when in full screen mode, exiting full screen mode would restore the panels.

I might add that in order for me to have konqueror maximized and with panels showing, I have to select "maximize," first and not use full screen mode at all.  I admit that maximize, minimize, unmaximize, resize, full screen mode, exit full screen mode, and various combinations thereof had me confused.  I only assume that I'm not still   confused. :P
