Maybe it can help-->VLC-->open Tools/Preferences/Video/Output and try X11 or Xvideo. Whatever you'll choose, don't forget to save and restart VLC.

jijiji

that would be old pollack  ;D

"OK thats the problem i tried to find something to that fact nothing came up including the aticonfig"

not all the hardware works out of the box in linux, that is a myth, you need a ati driver if you haven't installed it

about pcc, i remember this problem was mentioned maybe in september?  are you updated?

Usage: aticonfig [OPTION] ...
Parses an existing X-Server configuration file and modifies it to operate with
ATI products.

       Init 0 and 2  :  aticonfig --adapter=0,2 --initial
Init all      :  aticonfig --adapter=all --initial
       MultiView     :  aticonfig --xinerama=on
  7. ATI Overdrive (TM).
       List adapters          :  aticonfig --list-adapters
       Get Clocks of 0        :  aticonfig --adapter=0 --od-getclocks
       Set new Clocks for 0   :  aticonfig --adapter=0 --od-setclocks=770,1126
       Test out 3D            :  atiode -P60 -H localhost:0; echo $?
       Check Temperature of 0 :  aticonfig --adapter=0 --od-gettemperature
       Commit changes for 0   :  aticonfig --adapter=0 --od-commitclocks

     ***note***
atiode is a stress application you start with a required
parameter -P which specifies the test duration and the optional
-H parameter to target a specific display to use.  For example
             atiode -P 600 -H localhost:0 would test display 0 for 10 minutes
the return code from the application is the test result
             0: Test successfully completed.
             1: Invalid command-line parameters.
2: Test failed because of rendering errors.
             3: Target adapter not found.
4: Test aborted due to unknown reason

this came about after i tried to use Ati Catalyst control center and There was an initialization Error the cause was either no graphic driver installed or The Ati driver is not functioning properly

however i did install the driver from the repo and this was the out generated

Since aticonfig is returning the help screen try logging in as root and from the CLI run

aticonfig --initial -f

This will create a fresh xorg.conf file and initialize the ATI drivers.
After that (if you have a dual head card and are using two monitors) run:

aticonfig --initial=dual-head --screen-layout=left,right,above,below (choose the direction that applies)

If you didn't get any errors from either of those commands (post the errors if you do get them) log out of X and log back in (or restart the PC). You should be able to use Catalyst Control Center now. If the CCC won't load go the the CLI and run "amdcccle" and post back the output.

If PCC doesn't work try the command "drakconf" as root.

"Disable" is not a valid keyword in this section.

I get that every time I do a new install

As root open the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Find line 15. It will be the one with the word "Disable" in it.

Put an # in front of it. Such as:

Section "Module"
        #Disable drm

Save the file then try those aticonfig commands again. (you may need to restart X)

amdccle will not work until we can get the ati drivers initialized.

Oh, make sure you have all older versions of the ati drivers removed from you system too. Dump any Nvidia drivers as well.

From what I've read we are just supposed to ignore this message.

So don't worry about it.

As far as PCC is concerned (not my area of expertise) You may have a gtk2 problem or this is a result of the bad video drivers.
try booting into safe mode logging in as root and running drakconf. (I assume you are comfortable with the CLI.) you should get a kind of a DOS style graphical version of PCC.
