graphics and photos disappearing
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:43:34 PM »
Over the last several days, my system has been getting a lot more fonts (print media) and a lot less graphics.  Right now, there's not an icon on the page,  just words where the icons used to be.  Youtube shows no thumbnails, just print (videos still play, though).

This is just on the internet, though.  What to do to fix this?  For college online, I literally cannot login from PCLinuxOS because the usual GUI no longer appears.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks for the help given me in the past.

Do you think it might be helpful if you told us the application in which this is occurring?  ???

this makes me remember that post, the lost my balls post  :-X

you forgot to mention what web browser you are using

about not seeing the images, there is a option you can activate to make the browser not show images in firefox

also, i had a problem with speed of the connection, images won't render because it took too long to load

Thank you very much for the information.  The problem is solved.  First off, I apologize for not telling that it was Firefox, I was having the problem with.  But, honestly, I thought that Konqueror was doing it too because there are occasions when Konqueror wasn't giving up thumbnails and file content (but I know now that that's something else that I'll bring up in another thread).  I prefer Ffx as a web browser and Konqueror as a file manager, and how it looks.

Thanks, AndrzejL, for the hunch. I went to "Re: (SOLVED) FireFox needs to slow down" and changed network.http pipepining.maxrequests from 10 to 6 (6 because that's what worked for Ramchu).

Thanks, T6, for " . . . there is a option you can activate to make the browser not show images in firefox."  I went to edit>preferences>content and reselected "load images automatically."  I must have deselected it at some point because I was getting images all along before.  That bit of information is a big help.  In case anyone is wondering why I deselected it, let me just say that I have no clue. I don't even remember doing it.

Anyway, thank you all very much.
