remove printers (SOLVED sort of)
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:12:43 AM »
I am trying to clean up an older KDE3 setup. Does anyone know how/where to get rid of printers that are listed as "Configured on other machines" in PCC.  I have a local network set up. The other machines no longer exist therefore neither do the printers.

If you were to go into PCC -----Hardware -----setup Printers, you would see any printer that had been setup. Left click to highlight that printer and the  Delete button will "light' up. Click to remove. You can add a printer from the same location if you wish.I know from past experience with HP printers it will seek out the repos to load the drivers and ask the necessary questions to properly install the printer. I will assume it will do the same for most others.

That is the problem for printers "Configured on other machines" , it does not give you a delete option when you highlight one.

Have you tried configure CUPS, I believe one of the options will look for the the remote printer, see that it does not exist and allow it to be deleted. I don't have one installed to go through the motions to walk you through it. Never the less nothing bad can come from trying this

Thanks for your help, but the HD died (old WD 40G). I'll mark this solved. It was just a LAMP test box - I'll try again with another old HD around here somewhere.
