After installing PCLINUX
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:31:49 PM »
After installation is there an updated repository list that I should use or am I okay using the one that is already on there??

All the repos, except the one offered by YouCanToo, are mirrors of each other. Pick whichever is closest to your location, or the one that has the best speed for you. If you wish to retain KDE 3.5, use the one from YouCanToo. Choose only one.

Thanks old-polack. Its just that I have been trying to install vlc and the attached file is the error I keep getting ever time I try to mark the software.

Which repo are you using? Your best bet to install VLC is YouCanToo's frozen repo. You do need to click on the Reload link after choosing the repo.

hey old-polack,
i've had the same trouble trying to install vlc. i'm in ohio, so i use one of the indiana repos.

i just looked at the repo list in synaptic, and saw no reference to 'youcantoo'.

which repo is it again?

thank you,

rpm http://kde3.pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/  pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome

Put this line in your /etc/apt/sources.list and use it as your repo. You have to edit the file as root, in order to save it after adding the above line.

I just checked and version 1.0.2-1pclos2010 is there, with all the plugins. What error messages did you get?

if you have used the regular repos ...you will NOT be able to install VLC... even if you switch over to YouCanToo's repo......aside from my how to the only way to do it is if you do a reinstall and upgrade from YouCanToo's repo
