Yahoo Toolbar
« on: February 19, 2010, 08:09:58 AM »
I'd like to search with Google from the Yahoo Toolbar, but it doesn't work. I tried following the directions at the toolbar help page, but no dice.... It doesn't seem to recognize that I want to use Google. Can anyone help?

CheeseQueen452,

If this is Firefox with the Yahoo Toolbar addon why not just use the firefox searches box and have that set to google as it is by default.

If the addon ts actually preventing this functionality then it is not a PCLinuxOS or FF issue, and you should contact the addon's developer.

The same would apply if its chromium or any other browser.

The best option would be to uninstall the addon or find a better addon or addon's to do the job

I store my bookmarks in Yahoo, so I wanted to keep the toolbar but use its search box with Google since I'm used to the search box being on the left side of Firefox. I'm not saying it's either a PCLOS or Firefox issue, I was just hoping someone could help me get it working. If it's a bug in the addon, which I don't know for sure at this point, then obviously no one here can help. But contacting Yahoo is like talking to a wall :P I've since installed the Google toolbar & imported my bookmarks, so it's all good :)

Yup.... that's EXACTLY why I switched to Google search :P Ya know.... I've been dropping my use of Yahoo services little by little. First it was their tv listings, then the mail, then the toolbar & search. Now I only use their groups & news.... If they keep this up, I may be forced out of Yahoo completely :P It's a shame, really, since I once used Yahoo to access everything I do on the internet.

You're on your way, now install "Scroogle" (a addon of FF) and forget both Yahoo and Google , for a while...... it is nice to be "free"...  :D

Just looked that up, & it's not for me.... I need a toolbar that gives me access to my bookmarks which I have stored online. I don't know if Google really stores search data, but what's the worst they can do.... spam me? :P

Hmm, nagh, I honestly don't know as to what they "do" or "don't". They got to be interested in what YOU do however. It's their biz after all. But maybe Opera with Speed-dial is your thing? It's a other approach but Speed dial really works fine (as Opera does).

Nope, Opera doesn't have what I need either.... The Google toolbar is ok, so I'll stick with that.

or Firefox with the Speed-dial add-on?  I use it and it works well.

I have never used the Yahoo toolbar, I need my links in one place because I use different computers, I store them at the Google page, I use my Google account only for office and family and rarely receive spam
