[Solved] Unable to setup a Graphic server
« on: February 18, 2010, 09:14:39 AM »
Hi All,

I have been using PCLOS 2007 version. I recently upgraded to PCLOS 2009.2 KDE. I have trouble installing graphic card driver. None of the available NVIDIA drivers seem to work  ???. In setup graphic server all I see is. Graphic Card: Custom (graphic cards not working with nv and nvidia). I tried to install nvidia-180.20 as 94ooGT graphics driver is listed as supported by this driver, still no luck. I tried all options. everytime I try new driver system fails to start xserver then I have to manually edit the xorg.conf to make it work. I'm not able to enjoy the 3D. Looking for some suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

What graphic card are you using? If you don't know, you can do [alt]+[F2]: kinfocenter and go to openGL,
or you can type in a konsole ([alt]+[F2] konsole) lspci, and post the output.

Hello k@miney,
nvidia_190.xx driver from testing repo might be worth a try - solved a similar problem for a friends PC.
(can't remember if I updated kernel to 2.6.27.31.tex5 also?)

Thanx Steve,

I'll try the nvidia_190.xx, I was kind of reluctant to install something which is in testing repo. Well now I think let me test the driver too.......
Thanks a lot...
