Amarok Will Not Work
« on: February 18, 2010, 03:22:08 AM »
Hello I am having trouble getting Amarok to work on my EEE PC 701. That I have upgraded with 2 GB of RAM.
It has worked for a long time before but after I have listened to a pod cast off of a dvd it will not open without me clicking the icon in the system tray.
When I do it just goes to to a playlist with the podcast on it, I try clicking on another tab and it quits.

I have tried completely removing and re-instaling with synaptic but I still have the same problem.
My music plays in Kaffeene but not Mplayer. I could just use Kafeene but the interface is not so good for my music listening habits as Amarok is.
Thankyou.

I can't totally replicate this, but if you select all the items in the playlist, right click on them and select Remove from Playlist, are you able to get control back?

I played an audio cd in Amarok and then when finished cleared the playlist, exited and started up again and the problem was gone. Wierd, but hey there is a solution for others that have this problem.

Not sure, I am a newbie.
I tried to install KDE 4 in synaptic, it says installed but it looks just like KDE 3 to me. I have a whole host of other problems but, I'll leave it for that thread.

you can tell what version of kde you are running by going to any kde application like amarok and click help and check for kde or amarok version

Yes. That has led to other problems that I am more interested in fixing. I have posted a new topic about them, amarok works now but I am curious as to why this happened.

This is a first beta trial so bugs are to be expected (sort of :-)

It is ment to be the 2009 release. Says 2010 on start up though even though I never downloaded the beta, just updated using synaptic. And this was done about two weeks before the beta was released. Surely packages for the beta would not be in the repositories if the beta is not even finished yet?
I am only basiclly computer literate, but that to me would not make sense.
Anyway I do not have a problem with this now. Should I mark this as fixed?
