i have a Panasonic DMC-FZ35 camera and would like save a motion JPEG file to my Compaq Presario laptop running up to date Pclos 2009.  I can play the file using kaffiene but can't see a way to save it.  Previously with my Sony camera digikam saved motion JPEGs when I uploaded the photos from camera to PC.

Many thanks

motion jpeg sounds like a mpeg video file to me but could be wrong, sometimes it can be a vob or dat(weird cameras around) and to watch it properly in other device, not the pc you could need to convert the videos, many apps exist for this task

can you see the contents of the camera when you connect it to the pc?

if that is the case just copy and paste the files

some cameras can be set to use the usb port in 3 different ways, as a camera, print bridge and usb mass storage device

if your camera cannot be recognized as a usb mass storage device and you need digikam to see the files, digikam should let you copy the files you need

Thanks for that - helps with two problems.

After  reading this and fiddling about in digikam, I right clicked on the movie and it downloaded fine, and I can see it so thanks.

Second problem is this - I usually record videos on my camera in motion jpeg, but a friend advised to use AVCHD lite, so I have two smll videos recorded using this mode.  I can see them using Dolphin file manager, and copy them, but then can't play them in Dragon player.  Will keep trying and start a new thread if necessary.  Many thanks for your help with first issue.
