What kind of a camera do you use?  The reason I ask is this.  Some like digicam for importing photos.  When I hook my Nikon's up to the pc or laptop they show up as Nikon USB devices.  I just copy and paste folder of photos to /home/Cindy/Pictures

When they are done downloading I safely remove the device and shut it off.  One of the best digital editing tools or apps I've found is ShowFoto.  It's a very well made application that does professional quality editing of the photos I take.

Hope that helps.

try digicam then, or if you are brave, and picasa is still around.  LOL.  I just do it the 'hard way' I suppose yet it is sooooo easy for me to copy and paste a folder.   :-\ :-X ;D

Maybe you can find instructions some where?  Like HELP?  I didn't like the way it automatically set up folders for me, as I have a specific way of doing that.  date, camera.  I know what month, day and year I took the photos, and which camera I used before going in the folder.  I still like my D70s.  :)

I just have a Kodak 743 but Digicam found it and I was able to download images and movie clips without any issues.

Notifications - Devices recently plugged in showed USB storage device - but I don't seem able to download images directly from there - it brings up Digicam.
I'm seeing no camera directory getting mounted in /mnt or/media - nor any option to do so.

I tried "Desktop Settings" - "Advanced User Settings" - Camera. Camera is identified and I can test - but no joy on accessing pics that way.
Strangely I can pull the 2 gig SD card from the camera, put it into my old MP3 player, plug in and the card gets mounted just fine.
