Trying to get remote desktop to work from Windows PC

Ok, I just recently bought an IBM ThinkCentre pc and installed PCLinuxOS 2009 on it. I need to be able to connect to the remote desktop from Windows but haven't had any luck. Seems to be some compatibility issues.
Here is my situation. I have three netbooks running Windows CE but CE is limited. I currently connect them to my laptop which is running Windows XP with a hacked terminal server. I can run concurrent sessions as if all three netbook users are in front of the laptop.
The problem is, my laptop is slow and XP doesn't help. Hence the new IBM with Linux.
Does anyone know how to get this to work on the Linux machine? I would really like everyone in my family to be able to use the computer remotely at the same  time.

If the Windows machine is running XP home edition, it won't work. That is one of those little "incentives" that Microsoft built in to get you to buy the more expensive version.

But when I was playing with this stuff, even using XP Pro, the Windows stuff seemed to be more trouble than it was worth. So I installed the Windows version of Tightvnc on the Windows machine and it worked fine, even on XP home edition.

You must understand though that I did not spend a lot of time on it. So, some of the problems I had with Windows may have just been due to my own ignorance.

Oops, I just re-read your post and realized that I had misunderstood what your situation is.

Anyway, using Tightvnc on all of the machines allows me to control any of the machines on the network from any of the others. Some have Windows and most have PCLOS.

There are other options and there are people on this forum who know a whole lot more about this stuff than I do.

On machines that have limited resources things can be a pain though. If I remember right, there is no trouble accessing a fast machine from a slow one. But the behavior of the system changes when trying to access a slow machine from a fast one. I found it to be a bit annoying.

For instance, if you have a video playing on the screen of the machine being controlled, that video window may default to just showing a blank window.

It has been too long since I experimented with this stuff so I do not remember all the ins and outs.

want to run skype, arduino, legacy rs232, parallel port stuff etc.

Well, I do have a copy of vnc which is supposed to run on WinCE but I haven't tried it yet. I will probably give it a try tomorrow. I'd rather not install anything more than I have too. Only 128MB ram. I'm using one of my netbooks now to connect to XP over rdc but would rather see Linux on here.

I tried ultra vnc on my XP laptop and managed to connect to the Linux machine but it was not a smooth experience. The screen had trouble refreshing properly and xrdc crashes when I disconnect. I also tried vnc on my netbook but it didn't work. I think for now I will have to use my hacked version of XP until I get all the kinks worked out. Thank you for taking the time to help.
