kooka and KDE4.x
« on: February 12, 2010, 03:34:59 PM »
Two applications have prevented me from joining the KDE4.x.  One was Kmymoney which I read today Texstar has ported over.  Thanks.  The other is Kooka.  I've tried other scanning applications but none come close to the ease of use of Kooka.

Any idea if we'll see a KDE4.x version of Kooka anytime soon?

I just read up on the status of Kooka (development for KDE4 is crawling, but seems to be picking up speed lately).

On the other hand, I found several people mentioning that Skanlite will be the official KDE4 replacement for Kooka. Take a look at the  Skanlite Help Page, maybe it's worth it.

I had done so previously.  Kooka is a mature well defined application.  One of the reasons why I have 3.5 on another box.

i used alot kooka two years ago but i got bored with the limitations it gave me, also it had problems with colors when scanning so i dumped it and happily working with xsane since then

also sometimes i try xscanimage and works ok too but xsane is king right now

if the app will come to kde4 it is welcome but i won't even bother testing it
