Is it me, or is info missing from Konqueror?
« on: February 12, 2010, 09:09:38 AM »
I enjoy using Dolphin, but because it does not support multiple panes, I launch Konqueror.   However, I've noticed that Konqueror isn't reporting file information when I hover the mouse over a file.  I could be mistaken (and I'll check again tonight).

Anyone else notice this? or do I have to toggle on a setting?

In Konqueror, try:

Settings->Configure Konqueror->File Management->General->Behavior->Show tooltips. Then hit "OK", and wait a couple of minutes -- or restart Konqueror. (The change isn't activated immediately when you hit "OK" or "Apply".)

Blackbird's suggestion works for me.  But neither Dolphin nor Konqueror in KDE4 give any more than the basic file information.

I download a lot of podcasts of radio programs, and, in KDE3, hovering gets me a description of the programme content* as well as the file info.  This is useful when I have a stack of programmes with the same title but with different contents.

* In Kde3 I get the mp3 details too: Artist, Title, Album, Genre, Year and Comment.

How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.

And BINGO!  that did it!:) thank you blackbird and all!:)

Now, I guess I no longer have to worry about Dolphin not having multiple panes.:)
