Alternative for MathType on KDE 4?

On Windows, I rely on MathType to make documents with mathematical symbols for my part time job. I sometimes need to exchange files with others who require .doc format (this throws OOo out the window because the formulae created with OOo Math never render correctly when saved as .doc; even with v3.2, this problem remains). I recently discovered LyX word processor which uses LaTeX. It's easy to use and makes typing maths easier than any other program. However, exporting a LyX document (.lyx) to ODT proves to be challenging.

So does anyone know a program for the KDE4 that meets my need?

I apologize if you have seen this already ... but there is some info on the LyX Wiki about tools to convert .lyx files to OpenOffice format:

I don't know which version of LyX you're using, but maybe one of these methods would work for you. The "Via a converter" option looks fairly easy, and I suspect that the tex4ht package is probably in the PCLOS repos. HTH.

Yes I've seen it and it doesn't work that well on Windows. I'll wait to see how it fares on pclos 2010.
