PCLinuxOS 2010 - will remastering work?
« on: February 19, 2010, 09:50:27 AM »
Hi, does anyone know if the new PCLinuxOS 2010 will be able to remaster? and have a more versatile script so you can simply remaster whatever kernel you are logged in on, (or is it down to a better linking routine of files in the system)?
I have had no luck creating a remaster booting from kernel 2.6.32.2 from testing, having updated my system with that kernel I just get the usual after probing usb devices, Error: No suitable media for the livecd content found etc, though that is an isomade with just remasterme running in virtual box, tried all options I know of, and not found any solution from googling. (Though only a newby with time on hands).
Looking forward to another great PCLinuxOS, can't wait to download 2010  :)
Best wishes.

Remastering didn't work for me with any Kernel after 2.6.26.8.tex4, because I couldn't set my SATA drive to AHCI (no option in my Bios).

But when I look at the Twitter page, I see that Tex is currently working on mylivecd to be able to get it to build a good ISO. I'm guessing that's what we'll be using in the future, and, knowing Tex, I'm absolutely sure that it'll work for remastering with the future kernels.

There's hardly another person I'd put so much faith into to provide a product with class A quality!

Thanks, tschommerthat sounds really encouraging, I have a serial ati hdd, unfortunately I don't have alot of knowledge just try things out.
No point rushing out the new PCLinuxOS 2010 until its tried and tested, it has a good reputation to keep up. (Though having said that I can't wait to download it, even a test version). :)
