Printing was working fine on my system ... until I did an update, but after the update printing quit working and I can't get it going again. It seems that synaptic removed some essential items. Among the problems, in the PCLinux Control Panel, the "configure printer" function disappeared completely. After wasting a lot of time, I also found that printerdrake was completely missing. So I reinstalled it, but after jumping through all the hoops, still can't get printing to work again. Among the error messages I am seeing at various stages are these:
== Unable to create temporary printer [OK]
== Connection to CUPS server failed.
Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running.
== An error occurred while retrieving the printer list:
Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the
CUPS server is correctly installed and running.
Error: /var/run/cups/cups.sock: connection refused (10).
This isn't the first time I've had problem with having updates wreck things.
What do I need to do to get printing working again?
Very frustrating.
