Need some image conversion help
« on: February 07, 2010, 07:17:39 AM »
I just sent my brother who still uses XP in Germany a pnm file as I had obtained it from my scanner. He claims he cannot open it. I have no Gimp experience (yet) - could someone explain if Gimp could convert such a file to jpg? I have no problem opening it into Gimp but am lost as what to do next.

Thanks,
ebvt

Open in Gimp,

File > save as > All pictures > JPEG > picture.jpg > save

Something like that, mine is in Dutch (addlocale)

Ed, thanks you so much, it worked like a charm! Of course, after I had used your solution, one of my XP sons said "why don't you just change the output of your scanner", a possibility I had never thought of! And that works too.

Thanks again,
Eb
