I've got Pclos shoehorned onto the 8gig flash hdd of an Acer netbook. (see sig). I should have gone with minime and added the programs I want for a custom hybrid. I'm still new, don't want to get into support/dependency issues. Also, there are probably programs in minime that I don't want.
In the interest of drive space and general speed, I'd like to remove some programs that I never use and could probably never learn to use because of my calcified prejudice against them.
What programs can I safely remove completely? For instance, compiz is horrible and gives me dizzy headaches. Can I chunk that without collapsing my kde3 functionality? I don't have an Epson printer, that utilities thing could go. I have no interest in changing themes, is there a way to get rid of all the ones except my current one? Even with tutorials, the Gimp and my brain do not play well together. Can I safely remove it?
I think I'll go with the "add from minime" method with 2010. If any of the above programs come installed in minime, can I safely remove them from minime as well?
Are there any non-obvious programs I should NEVER remove? This "kernel" thing -- that's probably not important, right? (connection lost)
