Movie Maker equivalent
« on: February 06, 2010, 01:45:46 AM »
I'm looking for a Linux equivalent of Windows Movie Maker for KDE4.  I tried DeVeDe and that didn't work. Thanks.

It might be better if you described what you wish to do ....... I have never even seen and definitely not used  Windows Movie Maker, so would have no idea whatsoever what a suitable Linux app might be, to duplicate its functions.

Just a heads-up ........ that referring to a Win app is not always going to help   ;)

Movie maker (like the one from XP) for Linux? Imagination (its in our repos). << Makes video / slideshow from a file of photos. Nice & simple.

Hope this helps.

Digikam

Some will output directly to FLV which may be what is needed for Youtube.
Most will output to a MPEG file suitable for writing to a DVD, which can be converted to whatever format you need.

regards.

I'll look at these too. So far I'm not finding one that will let me select a photo (jpg) and just add a music file to it. Seems they are looking for pre-made video clips. I'll keep playing around tho, I probably just haven't figured them out yet.

I use Imagination slide show creator for the monthly desktop picture recap. It allows you to select a picture or more than one, how long to display each picture in seconds and a music file. It is really simple to use. You can export it to a flv file that youtube will accept.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

As stated earlier, Digicam will create a mpeg slide show with music and you can convert it to swf or flv with ffmpeg.
