Sorry seems youcantoo posted the same earlier. :)

No need to unmount the partition.
Just open PCC, local disks, then manage disks partitions.
Select the partition then at the bottom click "toggle expert mode".
Now you will see the label button on the right.

Good luck.

Thanks, guys. Labels option is not coming up for the partitions/drives i'd like to label...not sure why.  I'll continue to investigate.

In PCC - Local Disks - Manage Disk Partitions  ........  be sure to select
Toggle to Expert Mode

and when finished in there select
Done

Yes. i toggled expert mode. I'm only getting the label optionfor the local drive that PCLinux resids on.  the other two SATA drives are not giving me this opton.

Or, I simply do not understand how the disks and partitions are formatted.

It's not  big deal. I know where everything is. it'd just be nice to have a more familiar label.

Did you select the partition in the graphic ? ........ the partition has to be highlighted so the app knows which one you want to work on.
With the partition highlighted the full details of the partition should be shown underneath and the options for working on it to the right.

regards.

Oh, wait...i see what's goig on.  both of these drives are single partitons and also Windows formatted. oneis Fat32 the other is NTFS.

Okay, so my main drive with PCLinuxOS is sda
the Fat32 drive is sdb
The NTFS drive is sdc

Okay. i click on the large windos graphic and I get al the options now including "label."

Once more, do I need to unmount these in order to label? Or just label when mounted?

Toonfully,

Mark

I do not believe that it is necessary to unmount the partition before.  See the prior post from Weric
