Veoh and PCLinuxOS
« on: February 04, 2010, 08:12:02 PM »
Hello, I searched the topics for Veoh, and found only one entry.  It wasn't quite the answer to this question.  Has anyone found a way, in PCLinuxOS, to watch a Veoh film?  I rather not add Wine, or a virtual setup to run a windows environment.  Just watch to catch a few shows that are Veoh?

Thank you for your interest in reading this post. ;D

I just went to the site with Firefox, clicked on a Star Trek episode, and it's playing, in either the small window or full screen. I would assume it's using the mplayer plugin. I didn't do anything special. The link below is what's currently playing.

http://www.veoh.com/collection/CBS-Star-Trek/watch/v19298066wJmkNt7W/?source=homepageList

Edit:

When I right click on the screen, one of the options shown is About Flashplayer 10, so I guess that's what's being used.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Hi OP,

I was going through blinkx.com and the show is 41 minutes, and it only gives me a 5 minute preview.  Link is below.

http://www.blinkx.com/watch-video/earth-final-conflict-old-flame/jtKtdAJmuJww134niFLC0w

They want me to install the Veoh Web Player, and, of course, it's a Mac or Window application.  So, that's a no-go.  I'm using firefox, not opera, since Texstar mentioned that the repositories are on KDE 4, I assume as a KDE 3.5 user (install reads 2010, as I updated until last week) I cannot download opera to try it out as mentioned.

Hmm, perhaps Veoh, just doesn't like me, or like me going thru blinkx.

I tried opening veoh.com straight without going through blinkx.com and found a "Earth Final Conflict" show, link is.

2.4 Dimensions

And, Veoh still shows 5 minute perview, and suggests I download their window/or/mac application.  Darn.

Thanks for the replies from everyone! ;D

Yeah, I know. I rarely use Veoh, but occasionally I find a rare movie there, so the Veoh Player is needed. The only workaround is using an emulator. So that's one of the few uses of my virtual XP installation.

Most Veoh videos work on my 3.5 system. I don't have anything extra installed. I have noticed that some videos from Veoh don't load at all so it may be a problem on their end.

I  can confirm, Veoh works in my KDE3.5 install using Firefox but bugs me in KDE4 (both Firefox and Opera) and tell me to install the player.

Didn't know the site, seems good.

Thank you to everyone who answered, so it seems that some can, and some cannot watch Veoh.  The site mentioned in my original post, I forgot where I got it, but it has given me quite a few hours of watching older tv shows.  Wishing you all a great Valentine's Day!  Hug your kids, your friends, everyone, for life is short! ;D
